Dec 4 - Backyard Oasis
When we bought our house 12 years ago, one of the things that I was most excited about was having a real and (somewhat private) backyard.
Our backyard has several old holly trees that stay green throughout the year and feature beautiful little red berries in the winter. We also have a tall border of evergreen bushes that create a 8 foot high wall of greenery across the outer perimeter of the lawn.
Over the years, our backyard has seen birthday parties, pandemic firepit gatherings, holiday oyster shucking, and hours and hours of care and maintenance. It gained a makeshift pool during the pandemic, a large deck, a new shed, and a rope hammock.
My backyard is now an outdoor oasis, and this piece makes me think of the space and all the happy memories that I’ve made there.. It’s one of my most favorite parts of my home.
