Dec 15 - Flying Freedom
As a kid, I lived right next to the elementary school that I attended. It wasn’t uncommon for me to go over to the school to play on the playground.
One of my most favorite things to do on the playground was to swing. I could swing for hours.
Using my legs to help me swing higher and higher while still feeling grounded in the seat of the swing gave me a sense of controlled freedom that I craved. And, the repetition of moving back and forth again and again through the force of my own body was exhilarating.
This piece has a similar sense of controlled freedom - there’s an order to it - just like moving back and forth on the swing, but there’s something also exhilarating about the overall movement between the elements on the page.
