Dec 13 - Dharma

$160.00

In 2019, I participated in a 200-hour yoga teacher training certification program. I had been a student of yoga for about 20 years prior, and decided that it was time to further my depth of knowledge around yoga and see if I wanted to explore teaching.

Over a 6 month period, I dove deep into learning with my classmates, and as a part of that work, began to think more about my dharma, or true nature, and what was really calling me forward in my life.

As I sat in meditations and learned to listen to myself, I felt a need to get back to creating art, which was something that I had done in my teens and early twenties, but all but discarded as I entered married life and motherhood.

And, so I started to paint and collage again, and I found it to be just as meditative as any physical yoga practice that I could be doing. It allowed my brain to relax into a happy state of exploration and play.

This piece makes me think of my dharma and the work that I’ve done to get to this place with my artwork. It also reminds me to listen to myself and lean into what truly makes me happy.
